Russia will conclude in 2018, the new agreement with CERN

Last Saturday, the media has reported that Russia has withdrawn a request for membership in the European organization for nuclear research (CERN).

As explained by the correspondent of TASS in the press service of the Ministry of education, review the application process for associate membership is that in 2018 a new agreement was signed with CERN, “which will record Russia’s participation in the second phase of construction of the large hadron Collider and all the experiments on this installation”.

“The draft agreement is undergoing the approval procedure. In the first half of the year, the project will be considered at the international Council of CERN and then the document will be signed. As a result, Russia will significantly increase your level of participation in the largest international research organization in nuclear physics”, — noted in the Ministry of education.


The press service added that the new agreement will involve the participation of CERN in the construction of scientific equipment in Russia “Magasins”.

Cooperation between Russia and CERN lasts about 60 years. The current agreement was signed in 1993. In the organization of CERN included 22 countries. Its largest project is the large hadron Collider, considered to be the largest experimental installation in the world. Its construction was completed in 2006.
